Year 3

Croeso i'r Dosbarth Tri!

Welcome to Year 3!

Our class is made up of 22 fantastic pupils. Mr Coupland is the class teacher, with Mrs Coombes supporting in our class.

We are all:

- ambitious, capable learners

- enterprising, creative contributors

- ethical, informed citizens

- healthy, confident individuals.

Spring Term: Towers, Turrets and Tunnels - Why did they build a castle in Caerphilly?

We have 6 Areas of Learning and Experiences which we will cover throughout our topic. The children have brainstormed their ideas for our new topic and we are looking forward to focusing on the history of Caerphilly Castle, exploring the different political and geographical reasons which influenced why they built the castle.

We will begin by focusing on two key individuals Gilbert de Clare and Prince Llewellyn and looking at the conflicts between the Anglo-Normans and the Welsh.  We will also be exploring cookery in the Middle Ages and construction materials through our TASC projects.

This term we will be looking at two key texts: Castles by Colin Thompson and The Green Lady of Caerphilly by Chris Morgan.

Please keep a look out on Seesaw, Twitter and our class page for what we have been up to!
