Pupil Voice

Maesycwmmer Primary School has a Pupil Leadership Team (PLT), which is made up of five pupils from Year 6 who lead and organise Pupil Voice across the school. Pupil Voice representatives are made up of pupils from Y2-6.  The team meets regularly throughout the term to discuss ideas, plan events, and ensure that activities are engaging and enjoyable for all pupils.

They have created a pupil-friendly version of the school development plan, sharing this with the governing body, providing them with regular updates on school improvement from the pupils' viewpoint. The PLT also takes on a lead role within the school by meeting and greeting visitors, representing the school at events, and sharing important information with their peers during assemblies.

For their first project, the PLT focused on health and well-being by organising a weekly ‘Fitness Friday’. During this time, music is played in the yard and members of the PLT lead dancing and fitness activities for other pupils during afternoon breaktime. This initiative has proved to be very popular with the whole school.
